Contribution & Advertising Guidelines
Text Guidelines
Submit your text in one of two ways:
- Text within the body of an email to the GLPA Newsletter Editor, making note of any special formatting.
- An attachment to an email to the GLPA Newsletter Editor, using the .doc, .docx, .pages, or .pdf file formats.
Please refrain from embedding images within the submitted text document. Images should instead be submitted as separate attachments.
Image Guidelines
Images can be submitted by email attachment to the GLPA Newsletter Editor, or by using a large-file transfer service such as WeTransfer, Dropbox, YouSendIt, or Google Drive.
For all images, provide explanatory captions and credits (i.e. the photographer’s name).
Accepted file types are .jpg, .tif, or .png.
To ensure the best results, provide images with a pixel density of 300 pixels per inch.
JPG files are compressed, and care must be given to keep the image detailed enough to print well. Please err on the side of quality rather than compression. The Editor reserves the right to edit, crop, or downsize submitted images to improve their appearance and/or to limit the overall file size of the newsletter.
Article guidelines
Articles submitted to the GLPA Newsletter are accepted for publication if they are relevant to the planetarium community, follow the guidelines found here, weren’t presented at an annual conference, or aren’t better suited for another publication.
If the article is technology-related, the focus should be on how a planetarian uses their equipment to accomplish a planetarium-related task.
Although articles may mention specific pieces of equipment, manufacturers, and/or vendors, the article cannot exhibit the characteristics of native advertising, whereby an article resembles the style of a newsletter article but serves primarily to promote one or more advertiser’s products.
Articles should not read like a product review. Similarly, articles may not be used to introduce new lines of planetarium-related equipment.

Ad Guidelines
Full page ads should be sent as either a full page .pdf or as a suitably proportioned graphic image (.jpg preferred).
Smaller sized ads should be sent as a suitably proportioned graphic image (.jpg preferred).
To ensure fair treatment, half-page ads for multi-issue purchases are alternated in their placement between the top half and bottom half of the page (assuming that the other half of the page is also an advertisement). To further ensure fair treatment, the relative placement of ads within the newsletter is changed from one issue to the next.
The Editor reserves the right to make size adjustments to an advertisement in order to fit it to the needs or constraints of the newsletter layout.
GLPA reserves the right to refuse ads. Our liability is limited to the cost of the ad.
