Announcing the 2026 Annual Conference!

We welcome members from both the Great Lakes Planetariums Association and the Pacific Planetarium Association to join us for the 2026 conference, hosted by the Grand Rapids Public Museum in Michigan. Together we’ll network, share ideas, and explore the recently upgraded Roger B. Chaffee Planetarium!

The planetarium features a 50ft diameter dome, two new JVC projectors, Digistar 2025 software, and 147 seats. Additionally, the museum offers the Meijer Theater with a 24ft rectangular screen and 237 seats.

The conference runs October 20–24, with activities shared between the museum and the Courtyard by Marriott Grand Rapids Downtown, just a ten-minute walk across the Blue Bridge. The Sponsor Hall will be located in the museum.

Lodging details are located below, including information about two additional hotels. Please note that while the Holiday Inn Downtown is located directly across the street from the museum, meals, papers, talks, and the hospitality suites will be in the main conference hotel. Volunteer drivers will assist those with mobility needs.

Please book your hotel through the specific links provided below to receive the appropriate discounts, and protect the organization from incurring any additional financial liability.

We can’t wait to see you in Grand Rapids!

Weather & Clothing

October in Michigan is unpredictable, we encourage visitors to dress in layers and ready for both rain and even snow. Average temperatures can range from 80-40 ℉.

Attendees are encouraged to wear clothing that they will feel confident and comfortable in, for a full day of activities. Conference days are often from 9 AM to 10 PM. Folks often dress up in more formal clothing for the banquet on Friday evening.
