Presenting at the Conference

You grow as a professional by sharing experiences, and your colleagues grow by listening. GLPA’s annual conference is built on that exchange, and whether you’re leading a workshop, presenting a paper, or sharing a poster, your contribution benefits the room, and you.

Presenting also meaningfully contributes to your resume, CV, or grant application. Your work doesn’t disappear after the session ends. Every paper, poster, and workshop is published in the Conference Proceedings, giving your ideas a permanent place in GLPA’s professional record.

As a thank you for contributing, all presenters receive a $25 discount on conference registration.

By presenting and submitting content or images, you confirm that the work is your own and that any necessary rights or permissions have been secured.

Submitting a Proposal

The best proposals focus on how planetarians can use strategies, tools, or methods to work more effectively or create meaningful experiences for their audiences.

  1. Write an abstract of 100 words or fewer.
  2. Click “Submit a Proposal” and complete the form.
  3. Register for the conference using your presenter discount.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Moderators will ensure paper sessions are up to 12 minutes including questions.
  • Content should be relevant to the planetarium community and distinct from other presentations or publications.
  • Contributions can reference specific equipment or vendors, but shouldn’t read as product promotion.

Submitting Text to the Proceedings Editor

Use this Google Doc or Word document template to write the full text of your contribution — capture your message and any supporting material in whatever length feels right for your piece. When ready, email your submission to the Proceedings Editor (proceedings@glpa.org) as a Google Doc link, .doc, .docx, or .pdf.

Submitting complete, formatted text on time helps ensure your work is published and keeps the door open for your future conference contributions.

Poster Details

  • Maximum size: 4ft wide by 3ft tall
  • Manage your own poster printing
  • GLPA provides an easel and firm board backing for display
  • Submit a written narrative of your poster content to the Proceedings Editor following the text submission instructions above.
